Tiger Woods was arrested Friday afternoon after a rollover crash in Jupiter Island, Florida, and charged with driving under the influence, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the incident occurred just before 2 p.m. on South Beach Road. A truck towing a small pressure-cleaning trailer was heading north and slowing to turn into a driveway when Woods, driving a Land Rover, approached from behind at a high speed. Investigators say he attempted to pass but struck the back of the trailer, causing his SUV to flip onto its side and slide before stopping. Woods was able to get out through the passenger side.

No injuries were reported, including to Woods or the truck driver.
During a press briefing, officials said Woods showed signs of impairment at the scene and was taken into custody. A breathalyzer test indicated no alcohol in his system, but he declined to take a urine test, which can detect drugs or medications. Investigators believe medication may have played a role, though no substances were found in the vehicle.
Woods faces misdemeanor charges for DUI with property damage and for refusing to submit to a lawful test.
Officials also noted that the crash happened on a narrow, two-lane road with a 30 mph speed limit, adding that the situation could have been much worse if there had been oncoming traffic.

He was held in jail for at least eight hours, as required by Florida law, and released later that evening. As of Saturday afternoon, no court date had been scheduled.
Donald Trump, who described himself as a close friend of Woods, responded to the news in Miami, saying he felt bad for him and acknowledged that Woods has been dealing with some challenges.
This is not Woods’ first serious car accident. In 2021, he suffered significant injuries in a crash in Southern California involving a Genesis GV80. Authorities at the time said there was no evidence of impairment and called it an accident. Woods later shared that his recovery included spending three months confined to a hospital-style bed at home.
He also had a previous DUI-related arrest in 2017 in Jupiter, Florida, when police found him asleep in his vehicle. He was later released and issued a public apology to his family, friends, and fans.
